Block Out Levels 401-500: Advanced to Expert Level Log
A field log for Block Out Levels 401-500: the Advanced-to-Expert transition, how to plan around elevators and generators, and the boards worth opening first.

The 400s are a transition range. The first half still belongs to the Advanced tier. From Level 450 onward, the game labels the boards Expert, and the difference is not just the number of blocks. The routes are less forgiving, the moving obstacles matter more and a wasted move is harder to recover from.
This is the range where players stop asking “which block matches this door?” and start asking “which block can still move at all?”
The 450 boundary
The Expert label is a useful signal, not a hard reset. The rules do not change. What changes is the margin:
- The center lane is narrower or more heavily shared.
- A single parked block can close the only route for a color.
- Elevators and generators are more likely to interrupt a route you just cleared.
- The correct first move is less obvious from a still screenshot.
If you have been clearing the largest group first, the second half of this range will punish it. Clear the constrained color first and use the large group as the space you open afterward.
Why the finish feels harder than the start
Many Expert boards have a comfortable opening and a difficult last third. The opening gives you space, so the first few colors leave easily. The remaining colors are the ones whose routes depended on that space.
Plan for the finish from the first move. Ask which color will be hardest to move when the board is crowded, then keep that color's route alive. This is more important than clearing the first color quickly.
Elevators and generators in the 400s
On an Expert board, a moving obstacle is not background decoration. It is part of the route schedule.
- Watch a full elevator cycle before sending a block into it.
- Never send a block onto an elevator when the landing lane is blocked.
- Leave room beneath a generator until you know where its next block will go.
- If a generator is about to refill a lane you cleared, clear the color that needs that lane first.
The board can undo your space, but it cannot undo the order you chose. Choose an order that still works after the next generated block lands.
Boards worth opening first
Level 432 is the most-watched board in this range and a useful look at the transition into Expert-style planning. The first minute of the video usually shows whether the board wants a small clearing move or a direct route through the center.
Level 458 is another good checkpoint later in the range. If you are consistently running out of space near the end, compare your route order with the video rather than your tap speed.
The linked index below covers every available level page in 401–500. If you are still learning the core rules, read the beginner guide first; the Expert boards assume you already know them.
