The 600s are dense in a different way from the 200s. The earlier mid-game stretch was crowded with colors. This stretch is crowded with consequences. Every open cell is likely to be part of a route you still need, and every parked block is a decision you have to remember.
This is also where a player's reset discipline matters. A board that has one valid route is still solvable. A board with no valid route is not. The difference is often one move that closed a recovery lane.
What changes in the 600s
The 601–700 range tends to combine:
- Longer routes through the center. A color may need several moves before it reaches its door.
- Multiple blockers per door. Clearing the first blocker does not always open the approach.
- Moving obstacles on the critical path. Elevators and generators are more likely to interrupt the route you just cleared.
- Less useful edge space. The edges are still safer than the center, but they can fill up quickly.
The core plan remains the same: identify the constrained color, preserve its route and finish one front at a time. What changes is how little time you have before the board stops forgiving a mistake.
Reading a dense board
On a dense board, do not start with the block nearest its door. Start with the block that has the fewest ways to reach any door. That block is the bottleneck. If it cannot move, the rest of the board does not matter.
Then check the recovery lane. If your first route closes, where does the next block go? A good board has at least one alternate path back to the center. If you cannot find one, treat the current move as the last chance to create it.
Boards worth opening first
Several Expert boards in this range are watched more than their neighbors:
- Level 604 is a useful early checkpoint for the 600s. Watch how the first clear affects the center lane rather than just the block that leaves.
- Level 619 and Level 624 are the two most-watched boards in this stretch. Both are good examples of why a large group is not automatically the first move.
- Level 682 has no published level page because the playlist does not include a video for it. The linked index below skips that gap.
If your own board feels stuck, compare the first thirty seconds of one of these videos with your opening. The difference is usually the order, not the speed.
Board reset discipline
Restart when no remaining block has a complete route. Do not wait until you have tried every color twice. A fresh board gives you the same layout with the center intact, and you already know which route failed.
If you restart, change the first color. Repeating the same opening on the same board usually produces the same jam.
The linked index below covers every available level page in 601–700. The beginner guide remains the reference for the scan and clear order used here.
