Block Out Levels 926-931: Six Expert Boards Built Around Wide Trays and Tight Throats

Block Out Levels 926-931: six Expert boards with stacked wide trays, hedge frames and block generators, plus board previews and video solutions for every level.

The library now runs to Level 931. 926 through 931 went up as one batch, all six rated Expert, and every one has a page on the site and a video solution on YouTube. The previous batch was 920-925, so this picks up exactly where that run ended.

Where the last batch leaned on a ring of small side counters, this one goes back to big trays. Four of the six boards open with two or more wide trays stacked on top of each other, and the numbers written on them are the largest in the run so far: a 37 at the base of 931, a 33 on the left edge of 928, a 32 along the bottom of 927. The small counters have not gone away, but they have moved to the end of the route. A 1 or a 2 on these boards is a finishing move, not an opening one, and using it early is the fastest way to discover that the big trays have nowhere left to put their blocks.

Two of the boards also bring back a mechanic that has been rare in the 900s: block generators. Both sit on the top edge of Level 928, and both have to be cleared in a fixed order before the trays underneath them can be fed cleanly.

The six newest boards

Each entry below has the board preview, a link to its own page and the video solution. Watch only as far as the first tray completing, then restart and replay that part yourself before watching the rest.

The frame is split into a block field on top and two long trays below. The top field is a dense mix of red, green, blue, orange, purple and yellow, with a small up arrow in the top centre and a low red gate on the left. Under it, a wide red tray marked 1 spans almost the whole width, and below that a green tray marked 2 sits beside a column of orange, pink and green upright trays on the right. The counters around the edge are 4 on top, 9 and 16 on the left, 20, 5 and 31 on the right and 25 along the bottom. The two wide trays are the whole route: the 1 has a single slot, so every block that reaches it before the 2 is open has to be the right colour, and the column of upright trays on the right cannot be touched until the top field has been thinned from the centre out.

Four large trays in a two-by-two arrangement, with a narrow block field underneath. The top pair is a blue 19 on the left and a purple 1 on the right; below them sit an orange 4 and a red 3. The bottom strip is green, yellow, red, orange and purple blocks squeezed between a red gate on the left and a green upright tray on the right. The edge counters are the biggest numbers here: 46 down the left side, 12 and 6 on the right, 26 and 17 on top, and 32 and 3 along the bottom. Start with the 46, because it is the only sink on the board that can absorb a fast stream, and leave the 1 at the top right alone until the 19 and the 4 have stopped taking blocks. The bottom strip is where the run usually goes wrong: it is thin, it feeds all four trays, and it has only one lane in and one lane out.

Two block generators sit on the top edge, one red and one blue, both marked 3, with a raised purple surround that leaves a deep notch between them. Below the generators are two blue trays, a 10 on the left and a 14 on the right. The middle of the frame is a tight block field of orange, purple, red, green, blue and pink, with two horizontal slider bars and a green elbow in the centre. Under that, the two largest trays sit side by side: a 7 on the left and a 6 on the right. The counters run 12, 15 and 14 across the top, 5 on the right, 1 and 32 down the left and 26 along the bottom. Clear the generators first so they stop adding blocks to the field, then work the middle outward. The 32 on the left is the deep sink, but its lane is blocked by the same middle field the 7 and 6 depend on, so it is a mid-run target, not an opening one.

Level 929

A hedge frame wraps the top and right edges, and the board inside it is mostly tray. Two large green trays are stacked in the middle, a 5 above a 2, and they take up most of the frame. The counters are unusual: three separate 14s sit in the top left and top right corners, with 23 outside them on the left, then 16 and 25 down the left side and a 3 at the base. The block field is a thin band along the bottom, green and orange with red, blue and pink accents and two sliders. The 14s are the only way into the top half, so the first job is to open all three lanes to them before the green trays start taking blocks. The 2 at the bottom is the last move on the board; if it fills early, the bottom band has no drain and the run is over.

Level 930

The right side is one tall column of three blue trays: a 20 in the middle, an 8 below it and a 28 counter above. A wide blue 13 runs across the top, and the rest of the left side is block field: red, green, orange, blue and purple, with an orange upright tray and a red vertical bar set into it. The frame counters are 14 and 19 on top, 9 and 1 down the left, 28 on the right, 10 low on the right and 8 along the bottom. The tall right column is a trap. The 20 and the 8 share the same lane, and if the 8 fills before the 20 has taken its blocks the lane above it closes. Feed the 20 first, use the 13 across the top as the pressure valve, and keep the left field's orange tray clear so the small counters at 1 and 9 can finish.

Level 931

The new end of the library, and the board with the biggest number in the run. The top half is a wide block field of red, orange, green, blue, pink and purple, with a red gate on the left, a horizontal orange slider across the top and a purple elbow in the centre. Two small blue trays sit side by side in the middle, an 18 on the left and an 11 on the right. The bottom is a single wide green tray marked 2, with 17 on the left and 15 on the right. Around the frame the counters read 4 on top, 13 and 33 down the left, 6 and 15 on the right, and 37 and 15 along the bottom. The 37 is the largest sink on the board but it sits under the green tray, so it only opens once the 2 is nearly done. Thin the top field from the left gate inward, clear the 18 and 11 in that order, and save the 2 for the blocks the small trays cannot take.

What to watch for on these boards

The video is a verified solve, not a script. The useful part is the shape of the board:

  • Clear generators before trays. A generator keeps adding blocks to the field, so every move made before it is cleared can be undone.
  • Stacked trays have an order. The upper tray has to be filled before the lower one starts taking strays, or both lanes close at once.
  • The largest number is not the first target. A 37 or a 46 usually sits behind a smaller tray and opens late.
  • Small counters at 1, 2 and 3 are finishers. Spend them on the last blocks, not the first.
  • Restart without guilt. If no block has a tray that will take it, one more nudge will not make one.

How to use the walkthroughs

Every level from 926 to 931 has its own page with the board preview, difficulty rating and embedded video. A method that holds up on Expert boards:

  1. Watch only up to the first tray completing.
  2. Restart and replay that opening yourself.
  3. Keep going alone until you stall.
  4. Rewatch from the point your route went wrong, not from the start.
